Rev. Gordon Warriner
Pastor, Board Chairperson
Gordon Warriner has been the Lead Pastor of Bethel Pentecostal Church since 2001. He was born in Comox, B.C. and has spent much of his life and ministry in B.C. A graduate of Canadian Pentecostal Correspondence College, he is ordained with the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada. Gordon and Linda have been married for 46 years with 3 married sons and 13 grandchildren. Gordon is passionate about ministry and has a love for all people.
Josh Anderson comes from a deep ministry heritage, growing up as a Pastor’s kid in the Alberta Peace Country. After graduating high school, Josh attended Bible College and in 2006 graduated with a Bachelor’s of Theology in Pastoral Studies. Josh served on the MCS board for 6 years, stepping off for two years in 2017 before again rejoining the board in 2019. Josh serves at Bethel Church, regularly leading worship and preaching when the Pastor is away. Josh works at New Harvest Media and also sits as a Director on the Dawson Co-op Board. Josh’s wife Katelin helps lead the MCS Parent Action Group as well as in fundraising efforts and decorating around the school. Josh and Katelin currently have two children attending at MCS, with another joining kindergarten soon.
Nelson Sheppard is presently serving Bethel Church and Mountain Christian School as a board member. He moved to Dawson Creek five years ago and has actively served in Bethel Pentecostal Church since moving here. He is presently in charge of communion Sunday preparations, sometimes leading in Legacy Builders, counting offering, greeting, and the prayer team. In the past Nelson served as a board member in Thompson Manitoba for Thompson Pentecostal Assembly for fifteen years. Nelson is semi retired however he is also the caretaker for Bethel Senior Citizen’s Society (Heritage Heights) and he drives a school bus for the Peace River South School Division. Nelson is a prayer warrior and compassionate board member of Bethel and MCS. He strives to be a student of the word and a passionate follower of Jesus Christ. He desires that all students of MCS will also come to know Jesus Christ as their personal saviour and passionately pursue Him.
Matthew Spooner has served on the board for Bethel Church and Mountain Christian School for 2 years. He lives in Dawson Creek, BC with his wife Sonia and 5 kids. He is the owner and operator of an Electrical Contracting Company called Ascend Electric Ltd. Matthew has been active in ministry including Sunday School teaching, youth leadership and worship ministry in various capacities for over 15 years. As a board member, he has a passion to see young people receive a strong academic and faith based education.
Josh Wagar and his wife Dyan have been living in the Dawson Creek area for 5 years and have been blessed with 4 children, 2 of which will be attending MCS this year. Before moving to Dawson Creek, Josh was involved in missions in Bolivia and Argentina and enjoys serving at Bethel Church anywhere there is a need, including playing bass guitar in the worship ministry and being involved with missions. Josh believes very strongly in the importance of an education based on Christian values. Josh is in his first term as a school board trustee and looks forward to serving in this position at such a great school.
